About Philippa
Philippa was born in Lancashire in 1971, and although she has spent time in England, Scotland and Ireland, much of her life has been spent living in the beautiful area of North Wales.
Within both her photography and writing, Philippa’s inspiration comes from her love of nature, the environment, and the pleasures and challenges life brings with it.
Starting as a postgraduate animal biologist and lecturer, studying and then passing on her passion for nature and how it works to her students, Philippa then moved on to supporting people through challenges in their lives, to enable them to achieve a better quality of life after experiencing her own challenges.
In recent years, Philippa has focused on running a charity called Our Sam, named after her daughter who was stillborn in 2012. The charity came about following the successful staging of her most recent play, Dancing in the Wings, based on her own experiences of stillbirth and multiple miscarriages. The charity has been creatively raising awareness, and helping to improve understanding and support for anyone affected by pregnancy and baby loss.
Through her skills and passion for words and pictures, along with her own life experiences and challenges, Philippa has managed to find ways to make a difference to other peoples’ lives, by providing moments of sanctuary and respite, raising awareness and improving understanding of difficult subjects, or simply by making people smile.
